Itinerary

Day 1: Fes - Ifrane - Midelt - Merzouga Desert & Camel Ride

Pick up at 8:00 am from your Riad/ hotel, you’ll embark on an interesting journey down to Merzouga desert through the Atlas Mountains. En route, we will include a short break in Ifrane “the pseudo-Switzerland city of Morocco”. The city is known for Skiing in winter time & for its tranquility, then we continue  on the track to Azrou Forest where we will stop to see  the famous cedar forest. This UNESCO preserved forest hosts a colony of Barbary macaques that we can possibly see & even meet.

We will resume our drive to Midelt, this region is known for apples’ production. After having lunch, we will cross the snaky High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n Tlghamt then the Ziz Valley. We will have a short break in this nice panoramic view of the palm-dotted valley offering amazing backdrop for taking pictures. Continue on the track to Merzouga desert where we will have tea & get prepared for the Camel ride to spend the night in desert camp in the heart of Merzouga dunes.

Day 2: Mezrouga - Erfoud - Todra Gorges - Dades Valley

Early wake up in the morning, stretch your legs atop the golden sand dune where you can enjoy a miraculous view of the sunrise before returning back to the hotel by camel. Have your breakfast, take a shower & meet up with your guide to resume your trip to Dades Valley via Erfoud. This administrative center is famous for the production of dates & fossils where you may want to visit a local fossil craft workshop then continue to Todgha Gorges where you will have time to stretch your legs by the ever-flowing river of Todra while enjoying the stunning views. After lunch, we will drive to Dades Valley where will spend our night.

Day 3: Dades Valley - Ouarzazate - Ait Benhaddou - Marrakech

After having breakfast in your Hotel/Riad, we will head towards Marrakech via the Rose Valley of Kelaa Mgouna where you will have the opportunity to visit one of the Rose water cooperatives. You’ll learn how the locals prepare rose scented perfumes then we will pass the Road of Thousand Kasbah  leading us to Ouarzazate “Hollywood of Africa ” . We’ll continue on the track with our journey to the village of Ait Benhaddou Kasbah (UNESCO world Heritage Site).

Ait Benhaddou is a striking example of the southern architecture with the high-walls & four towers to provide protection against possible attacks during that time. It has been used for shooting many famous movies such as Sahara, Gladiator, Game of Throne, Lawrence of Arabia…After having lunch, we’ll drive further to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains 2260m, which we will reach in the late afternoon.

Please Remember that in case you want to spend more time exploring the Sahara Desert while giving yourself the enough time to relax & freshen up, then you can opt for the private 4 days desert tour from Fes to Marrakech. The route will be exactly the same; however, you’ll have two nights in the Desert, one in the hotel/Riad by the edge of the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi & the second one in our luxury desert camp. During the second day, you’ll explore the desert area including the Khamlia Village, learn about the local lifestyle & visit a nomad family…

Morocco Camel Trips ensures your travel with us throughout the Kingdom of Morocco is hassle-free, for this reason, once we arrive to any destination, we always make sure to help to get you to your accommodation stress-free. If your hotel/Riad is accessible by car, then expect to drop you off right by the hotel’s main entrance; however, if it happens that your accommodation is located within the old Medinas of either Marrakech, Fes, Tangier or Rabat…

We coordinate with the staff members of the aforementioned accommodation so that they can come out & meet you in person. Please note this is not a warning message as Morocco is one of the safest destinations in the world but it’s, conversely, an assurance to get to the right accommodation…

Questions & Answers

Our tours have been featured based on 4 main Moroccan cities Tangier, Marrakech, Fes & Casablanca. However, we can start any extended tour from anywhere in Morocco except the Marrakech Desert Tours & Fes Desert Tours as they are planned to specifically enjoy the desert experience in a short period of time. Casablanca International Airport remains the most popular one with a wide range of flights from all over the world followed by Marrakech Menara Airport…You can join Tangier by ferry from Spain crossing the Strait of Gibraltar…

For citizens of many countries, you do not need a visa to enter Morocco. You will receive an entry stamp in your passport upon arrival.

You do not need to apply for a tourist visa for the Morocco Tour if you are a citizen of the United States, Canada, Australia, Great Britain or any of the other countries listed here.

You will need a passport that is valid for six months beyond your stay and a round-trip airline ticket. The passport must have at least one blank page.

If you have US dollars, Euros, or British Pounds, you can exchange money at an exchange bureau upon arrival at the airport or at your hotel but the rate won’t be quite as good as exchange bureaus we’ll find elsewhere. Our guide can help find the best place to exchange your cash for local currency.

There is often a problem making a change in Morocco, and it can be difficult to pay with large banknotes, so be sure to get smaller denomination banknotes (10s and 20s) as this will make your life easier when paying for inexpensive items such as drinks and souvenirs.
