4 Days Fes To Marrakech Desert Tour

Why should you book the 4 days Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour

Planning to travel to Marrakech hassle-free without escaping the absolutely recommended desert experience, then we invite you to join us through booking our popular 4 days Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour. This desert trip with a professional driver/guide offers great opportunities for exploring what the Sahara Desert has to offer. The journey itself is interesting as you’ll be taken from one amazing region to a different one. The varied landscapes featured in the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, the lush cedar forest of the Middle Atlas, the sand dunefield of Erg Chebbi, the Todra Gorge, the palm dotted oasis of Tafilalet, the striking Kasbahs and much more.

Expect to spend 2 nights in the Sahara Desert as the first day entails many hours of driving, so we thought it would be wise to spend the night in the hotel/Riad by the edge of the sand dunes. The second day is devoted to exploring the desert area and in the late afternoon, you can have the camel ride experience while spending the night in our  desert camp. The third day will spend the night in the Dades Valley while visiting the highlights of the Todra Canyons and the palm-valley of Todra before driving to Marrakech through the striking Ait Benhaddou Village and the spectacular High Atlas Mountains.

Itinerary

Day 1: Fes - Ifran - Midelt - Ziz Valley - Merzouga Desert

After having breakfast in your Riad/hotel in Fes, your private driver/guide will pick you up at 08 am before heading to the Sahara Desert of Erg Chebbi. Have a short break in the charming city of Ifran (listed as second cleanest city in the world in 2015), then have another break in the UNESCO listed cedar forest where you can spot the endangered Barbary Apes that you can possibly feed. After lunch which will take place in the Midelt, you’ll cross the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, then the Ziz Gorge before taking pictures in the panoramic palm Ziz Valley.

You’ll then drive through the palm oasis of Tafilalet before reaching the majestic sand dunes of Erg Chebbi in the late evening. A warm welcome as a Moroccan ritual with mint tea to freshen up.

Day 2: Explore The Desert Area & Camel Trek

Today, you’ll spend most of the day exploring what the Sahara Desert of Erg Chebbi has to offer. Learn about the traditional system of irrigation known as “Khettaras” where water is conveyed from afar with a sophisticated system of wells that are interconnected with an underground channel. This system has been providing the oasis with water for irrigation as well as for the local inhabitants. Have time for entertainment in Khamlia Village, which is resided by a tribe of dark complexion brought as slaves from the Sub-Saharan Lands. The spiritual music knowns as Gnawa Music, which they perform daily to the guest-visitors will cherish you heart.

Now, it’s time to have a complete tour around the giant sand dune field of Erg Chebbi while making a visit to a nomad family so that you can learn about their lifestyle. In the late afternoon, you’ll have your camel ride experience through the soft & golden sand while enjoying the stunning view of the sunset. Have a nice dinner in our tented restaurant or under the stars before spending the night in the camp.

Day 3: Merzouga - Erfoud - Tinjdad - Todra Gorge - Dades Valley

Early wake up in the morning to attend the majestic view of the sunrise, have breakfast under the sunlight or inside the restaurant. Take a refreshing shower and meet up, once again, with your private driver/guide for resuming your journey further west. Have a break in Erfoud where you can visit the dates market as well as fossils & minerals factory before driving through the palm-oasis of Tinjdad leading us to the impressive Todra Gorge (Canyon). Stretch your legs and enjoy the views before continuing to the Dades Valley where we will spend our third night.

Day 4: Dades Valley - Ouarzazate - Ait Benhaddou - Marrakech

After having breakfast in your hotel/Riad, you’ll drive to Marrakech through the Valley of Roses where we may included a short break so that you can learn about their produce. Cross Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa) to the dramatic Ait Benhaddou Village. This striking village is listed by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site due to its unique architecture consisting of many Kasbahs (fortresses) with four high towers, small windows and tiny doors. After lunch, you’ll drive through the spectacular High Atlas over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m). We will include many breaks for taking pictures and enjoying the views. Arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon.

Questions & Answers

Our tours have been featured based on 4 main Moroccan cities Tangier, Marrakech, Fes & Casablanca. However, we can start any extended tour from anywhere in Morocco except the Marrakech Desert Tours & Fes Desert Tours as they are planned to specifically enjoy the desert experience in a short period of time. Casablanca International Airport remains the most popular one with a wide range of flights from all over the world followed by Marrakech Menara Airport…You can join Tangier by ferry from Spain crossing the Strait of Gibraltar…

You do not need to apply for a tourist visa for the Morocco Tour if you are a citizen of the United States, Canada, Australia, Great Britain or any of the other countries listed here.

You will need a passport that is valid for six months beyond your stay and a round-trip airline ticket. The passport must have at least one blank page.

If you have US dollars, Euros, or British Pounds, you can exchange money at an exchange bureau upon arrival at the airport or at your hotel but the rate won’t be quite as good as exchange bureaus we’ll find elsewhere. Our guide can help find the best place to exchange your cash for local currency.

There is often a problem making a change in Morocco, and it can be difficult to pay with large banknotes, so be sure to get smaller denomination banknotes (10s and 20s) as this will make your life easier when paying for inexpensive items such as drinks and souvenirs.
